Mango Virundhu, our signature prelude to the Hanu Reddy Mango Festival, unfolded this year at the charming Hanu Reddy Residences – Poes Garden. Held on Mother’s Day, it became more than just a feast—it was a heartfelt tribute. Families arrived hand-in-hand with their mothers, treating them to an afternoon of love, flavour, and nostalgia. Beneath the canopy of trees and the hum of warm conversations, guests celebrated mangoes in every form—ripe, raw, sweet, spicy, comforting, and delightfully new.

From the very first sip of Mambazha Panagam, the tone was set: familiar, refreshing, and lovingly spiced. What followed was not just a meal, but a layered journey through Pushpa’s Kitchen’s philosophy—of tradition carried in every ladle, of regional roots served with a modern smile, and of soulful food made from the heart.

Highlights from the Mango-Laden Menu

Accompaniments like Beach Maanga, Kalyana Urugai, and Raw Mango Pachadi sparked childhood memories, while chewy Mango Leather brought back sunlit rooftops and lazy summer holidays.

A traditional South Indian mango feast served on a banana leaf, featuring a variety of mango-based dishes including poori with aamras, mango bobbatlu, mango rice, mango pickles, and chilled mango desserts.

The starters turned heads and warmed hearts:

  • Mango Bobbatlu with Ghee melted on the tongue,

  • Thokku Cocktail Idly delivered a punch of spice,

  • the Avakai Kebab—smoky, fiery, and bold—won applause from every table,

  • and the playful Thattu Vadai Set, layered with crunch and a hit of mango, brought a street-side favourite to our curated feast.

The mains celebrated the diversity of South Indian kitchens:

Manga Sadham, Murungakai Kathrikai Maanga Sambar, and the beloved Pacha Manga Rasam were comforting, tangy, and perfectly balanced.

The Poori with chilled Aamras drew smiles and second helpings from both kids and grown-ups alike.

And the humble Curd Rice with Mambazha Kottai quietly stole the show with its creamy, cooling finish.

We ended, of course, on a sweet high –

Mango Ice Cream with Salted Caramel, Mango Sago Payasam, and a simple slice of ripe mango in its peak-season glory.

What Our Guests Said

"Every single dish was made with mango, yet each one tasted so different—that’s the brilliance of this menu."

"It was beautifully curated for Mother’s Day and Mango Tourism. More than 20 mango-based dishes, and not one felt repetitive."

At Pushpa’s Kitchen, we’ve always believed that food is an emotion. Mango Virundhu was our way of sharing the joy, comfort, and community that mangoes bring—served on a banana leaf, with a smile, under Chennai’s summer sky.

Thank you for joining us. See you again next season!
