Some days in the kitchen are just a little more special. On 25th July 2025, at the beautiful Hanu Reddy Raghava Farms, we had the privilege (and absolute joy) of cooking for over 1000 children at the Mazhalai Oli event. Hosted by the Clubs of Inner Wheel District 323, this year’s gathering was extra special, it marked their 25th year Silver Jubilee celebration, making the day even more meaningful.
Breakfast – A Sunshine Start
We wanted the morning to be as cheerful as the kids, so the breakfast spread was bursting with colour and flavour.
There were mango idlies (yes, you read that right – soft, fluffy idlies with a hint of mango sweetness), crispy vada, masala dosas, and pooris with golden aamras. Of course, we had the classics – sambar and chutney – plus a happy ending in the form of mango kesari. And for the grown-ups and volunteers? Hot tea and coffee to keep the pace.
Lunch – Comfort on a Plate
By midday, it was time to bring out the big flavours. We served fragrant veg biryani with cooling raita, tangy pickle, and creamy curd rice. There were also mini parottas with our signature veg kurma. To keep things refreshing, everyone got a glass of mango juice, and because no meal for kids is complete without it – ice cream for dessert.
More Than Just a Meal
For us, this wasn’t just catering an event – it was about being part of a milestone. Watching a child’s face light up over a mango idly or seeing them giggle with an ice cream in hand – that’s what makes all the prep, cooking, and serving so worth it.
It’s days like these that remind us why we love doing what we do – bringing people together with food that’s made with care, warmth, and a touch of Pushpa’s magic.
